The FCC wants the internet to be treated like cable, in an effort spearheaded by congressional Republicans (265 of which received campaign donations from Big Telecom).
According to battleforthenet.com, “Comcast, Verizon and AT&T want to end net neutrality so they can control what we see and do online. They want to gut FCC rules, and then pass bad legislation that allows extra fees, throttling & censorship. But Congress can put a stop to all of this.”
This is a call to action: join the very people who created The Internet in calling for a cancellation of the FCC’s net neutrality vote. The vote will take place THIS THURSDAY, December 14.

Why should the FCC cancel its vote on Net Neutrality?
- It will drive prices up for Internet service.
- It will give corporate executives free reign to throttle speeds, censor sites, and block whatever content they deem inappropriate based on their whims.
- It will stifle innovation by limiting the point of entry for small businesses and online services or apps.
These possibilities should come as no surprise, given that the new chairman of the FCC designated by Donald Trump, Ajit Pai, is a former Verizon executive. He was designated in January 2017, and wasted no time in rolling back a decision reached in 2015 by the FCC after a decade of debate. The conflict of interest involved in this controversial move is suspect to say the least.
Despite the fact that 83 percent of voters are in favor of keeping the FCC’s current net neutrality rules, the current administration has taken on the task of defying the voice of the people in the name of corporate interests. They are seeking to repeal a decision which was hailed as the return of the rule of law.

Such as: “I strongly support net neutrality backed by Title 2 oversight of ISPs. Net Neutrality is a protection for consumers. It protects the right of people to have an open internet, where all traffic is treated equally. With how much is shared over the internet, and have access to many great sites that foster learning and growth. If you now have to pay extra, to use Wiki for example, for those who can’t afford the price increase, all of a sudden, we have people who have limited access to educational materials that allow them to learn. Please keep the Internet open and accessible to all Americans.”
